The Count of Monte Cristo (1913)

James O’Neill, who was already famous for playing Edmond Dantes on the stage, adapted his play to bring the Alexandre Dumas novel to the screen.

Monte Cristo (1929)

This late French silent tells the famous Alexandre Dumas tale. Filmed at many of the actual locations mentioned in the novel it also includes captivating French impressionist techniques.
