Craig Hamilton is a western novelist who is consistently bored with his Manhattan life, so for inspiration he travels to the small California town of Saint Vincente. Hamilton is soon embroiled in a real life western adventure involving the Spanish heiress Rosario del Camarillo, who has been dispossessed of her family ranch by the machinations of the greedy and violent Juan von Rolf.
