In 1966 the popular Alan Ladd movie was brought to television starring David Carradine, Jill Ireland and Tom Tully. Filmed as a continuing story this series had a short life (only lasting 17 epsiodes). The series featured many guest stars. Shane was based on the western book of Jack Schaefer. It was directed by Herschel Daughtery and Gary Nelson. David Carradine starred as Shane and Bert Freed as Ryker, the villain of the story. The TV show focuses on the character of Shane as he is caught in the conflict between Ryker and a bunch of settlers. Shane beats up Ryker’s man, thus, Ryker tried to buy him. They take on the whole crew of Ryker. Excellent 8 to 8.5 quality
