Circus folk Professor Eustance McGargle and his ward Sally flee the circus after a fracas. However life on the road is hard and McGargle must consider that Sally might have a more secure future with her family. Not revealing the relationship he meets the girl’s grandfather, the stern Judge Foster, and decides Sally is better off without them. But fate has something else in mind for this broken family.
