Baldwin, a poor yet notable student, becomes enamored with the lovely Komtesse Margit after a chance encounter. However being penniless he knows he has no chance with his lady love. That is until the mysterious Scapinelli offers him a fortune in gold if he signs a peculiar contract entitling the old man to take whatever he wishes from Balwdin’s austere dorm.
