The Dukes of Hazzard: Reunion! is a 1997 American made-for-television film which aired on CBS. It reunites the surviving cast members of the American television series, The Dukes of Hazzard. It is sometimes referred to as Reunion in Hazzard.
This film was dedicated “In Loving Memory” to those members of the series cast and crew who had died: Phil Mandelker, Sorrell Booke (spelled incorrectly as “Sorrel”), Paul Picard and Jim Mohlmann.
The concept for the reunion film came when the cast had gathered in 1994 for the funeral of Sorrell Booke, who had played Boss Hogg, and discussed a possible reunion. Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke) was instrumental in seeing the idea come to fruition. The unexpected popularity of The Dukes of Hazzard reruns on The Nashville Network led to a rejuvenated interest in the franchise, which increased the feasibility of the reunion film. Series creator Gy Waldron had actually written a version of the reunion script as early as 1988, three years after the original series had ended. For the reunion movie, this original pitch was then updated to reflect the passing of time, and to work around the death of Boss Hogg after Booke had died.
The reunion movie was followed up with The Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in Hollywood!.
