The Stack family has more than its share of bad luck and when the bread winner, Mary Ellen loses her job, she decides the family is going to buy an automobile, pack up and roll to California on rubber tires. On the road they happen to meet Mary Ellen’s former sweetheart Bill, who decides he ought to be traveling to California too in this comedic road trip.
